Tom Brennan - BASEBALL IS A FUNNY AND HUMBLING GAME, BUT...

Baseball can be a funny, humbling game, much like the stock market.  One day, you feel like a king, the next day, you're dragged off to the woodshed.

But...

The Mets beat the Nats in DC again today, 3-2, to move to 6-1, while the mighty Nats slip to 4-4.

Keep everything in perspective, you soberly might say - except:

1) Tomorrow we have rejuvenated Dark Knight Matt Harvey against Tanner Roark.  I like my odds.

2) Then off to face the weakened Florida (or Is it Miami, I can never remember) Marlins, where the first 2 Mets starters are Noah Syndergaard and Jake Seaver - err, I mean deGrom. Sorry, it's an easy mistake to make.

I really, really like those odds.

Aww...forget the "humble" stuff, let's run off a big win streak.

Steve Matz was simply super-duper: no earned runs and 8 Ks in 5 IP.  Magical Matt and Matz.

Is a super-rotation unfolding?

Hansel Robles showed that he is still perhaps prone to the long ball, but it was a high fastball sent to the stands by one of the most dangerous home run bats in baseball, Bryce Harper, and Robles recovered nicely in the rest of his inning of work.  So I cut him slack, and hopefully a lesson learned.

Zach Wheeler was great in Vegas Friday. How encouraging.

Jason Vargas is due back soon.  Jason can be deadly.

Lots to be excited about.

So - think like a kid - stop over-analyzing; get pumped!!!
